Lachlan Columb is the founder and head instructor of ‘Ride Safe’ is globally considered one of the most experienced off-road rider and driver training experts with more than two decades of industry expertise and the advantage of being a past professional racer and New Zealand champion. He has professional proficiency in all areas of off-road riding and driving, has featured in numerous companies advertising videos and is regarded as an industry thought leader for risk mitigation and innovative safety protocols with a focus on measurable outcomes. 

 Lachie’s accolades as a racer are equally impressive having represented team New Zealand while winning Gold in the Australian 4-day Enduro Championship, Silver in the prestigious World I.S.D.E Championship and even gracing the podium at the RedBull Farm Jam event. On four wheels he is also a New Zealand ATV Champion, and a industry qualified safety and technical expert for both side-by-sides (LUV) and quad bikes. His ability to communicate the essential messages has been 

as a professional motorcycle racer winning Gold and Silver medals while representing New Zealand at Australian and International FIM Championships. He has taught thousands of people to ride (since 1996) and drive (since 2010) off-road. He has also been the Operations Manager for a large tourism operation writing Safety Manuals, Safety Procedures, successfully conducting safety audits and training and maintaining safety standards in a dangerous industry. Pieces of paper are just that, Lachlan has designed Ride Safe New Zealand courses using 25 + years industry experience, manufacturers like Honda, Yamaha, Can-Am and Suzuki designer input. He has also been involved in a WorkSafe NZ investigation as an industry and safety expert due to his experience. He does not tell people how to run their business or farm but he can offer training and consultancy services to save lives, reduce costs and reduce the chances of a fatal accident or prosecution under the Health and Safety at work Act 2015.

Lachlan is a Motorcycling New Zealand qualified coach since 1996 and has taught thousands of people to ride. From 2003-2007 Lachlan was one of New Zealand’s top motorcycle racers in Motocross, Supercross, XC (cross-country) and Enduro racing, winning Gold and Silver medals in Australian and International Championships. In 2013 Lachlan became an Industry recognised ‘Technical and Safety Expert’ for Quad bikes and Side-by-Sides and in 2019 became a ATV Safety Institute of America Instructor. since 2010 Lachlan has studied ‘Active Riding’ techniques and manufacturers legal requirements – these multiple to be courses methods to be New Zealand’s best and most legally and practically comprehensive.
