“Under the Health and Safety Act 2015 employers are legally required to take ‘all reasonable steps’ to protect employees, adequate training is one of those steps. A Waikato Farm was recently fined almost $250,000 for failing to train a staff member fatally injured riding a quad bike. I trust ‘Ride Safe’ as the best off-road training specialists in the business and a wise investment for employers.”

We know quad bikes roll over but hadn’t trained staff in ‘active riding’ or pre-start checks adequately. Great piece of mind having all our staff trained by Ride Safe and their training helped reduce our maintenance costs which was a bonus – staff actually use the machines better and keep an eye on them so we can get issues fixed sooner. The training duration and having them travel down to us made the logistics alot easier, and actual experts running the course meant even us old guys learnt some new tricks…bloody good. We trained our old and new staff for quad bikes and motor bikes, nothing but good feedback from everyone.

Lachie taught two of my girlfriends and they recommended him. Jacob (10) is a nervous kid and Ty (7) is a little crazy so I wanted Jacob to gain confidence and Ty to be safer. I also wanted to know their bikes were safe and they had the right safety gear. Lachie was so patient and started with the basic bike checks and made the kids learn how to do up their helmets properly and found one was actually cracked internally so we replaced that. We ALL ride so much better on organised trail rides and we ride safer so as a parent I was stoked. Jacob had done one group training before but improved so much more with our private training…so stoked.

“We recommend Ride Safe New Zealand to all our clients asking for Motorcycle, quad bike or Side by side training because its practical training that has practical solutions. Its no good just getting anyone with a piece of paper to train your staff and business owners and farmers are busy. The way they do the training, their knowledge, their ability and their experience mean that everyone gets value from the training and doing the training on site makes it so much easier to organise and get their staff trained. We have had nothing but good feedback and we know that they are the best training providers in the industry.”

When a New Zealand Champion teaches active riding techniques to your staff they listen, that simple. We have had instructors train our staff before and they didn’t know much to say it nicely and they taught out dated advice. The training with Lachie was on point, it was dynamic and you could see everyone learning and we haven’t had a roll over since – which doesn’t mean we wont but as business owners we wanted the best training and we got it. We also engaged their services for our safety documents and changed some machines and PPE choices which also improved users safety. Quad bikes are still the best choice for us and so was the Level 4 & 5 course.

The local Honda shop suggested Ride Safe and gave me their brochure, one of our farm managers had done a course with Lachie and said they were good and his teaching style meant effective learning for everyone; he focuses on kinaesthetic, visual and auditory teaching so all staff enjoyed and learnt from the course from the new guys right through to the ones who have been farming for a long time and thought they knew it all. Lachie trained 42 staff on the Level 1 and 2 and made time to address some specific issues with machines and PPE choices. Great feedback from everyone – they actually enjoyed it!

You know quad bikes have a bad reputation but they are also perfect for us and the grandkids on the farm and for fun. My grand kids don’t listen to their parents and I tend to spoil them so I asked the shop and they suggested Lachie and I asked him to teach the kids and their parents so we don’t have anyone getting hurt. His experience with kids and adults shone through and he didn’t mince his words so one in particular got the message – if you don’t wear your helmet properly then you don’t ride…perfect! As they have changed to bigger quads with gears and clutches I’ve got Lachie in to show them how to do all that properly as well.

“Ride Safe was recommended for our tourism operation for training our staff taking clients in our Can-Am side by side. Lachie trained all our staff and used his experience of 10 years to make sure we all knew the common mistakes and really enforced a good workplace mindset with his ‘Tool vs. Toy’ section in the safety discussion. Being mountain bikers we can read the terrain but being aware of what causes a roll over and the limitations of the machine, the importance of pre-use safety checks and such was invaluable; so was knowing that the course was tourism and side-by-side specific. We will use his services annually, thank you.”

We wanted to tick the training box and make sure we were doing everything we could to avoid an accident. The training was spot on and by doing the training here, on-site made things a lot easier and more specific to our terrain and the machines we use. Back at Telford they taught us to check the oil and that but Lachie’s course included causes specific to side-by-sides and recent fatalities, including the need to do a daily pre-use safety check. Great environmental considerations and practical solutions, feedback from everyone was really good. Great piece of mind and help with safety documents and new-user inductions as well.

We use our Polaris and Honda Pioneers for fun and hunting. We have mates and kids with us so don’t need to find out the hard way what happens when they roll over but didn’t bother getting trained until “someone” stuck it o is side. Lachie took us away from just the basics to the edge of what those machines can handle, I was amazed, I was also amazed to learn about the roll-bar design and the limitations of what protection a seat belt has in a end for end roll over. End of the day we wanted good training suited to us and what we do and we got that. Cheers.
