Workplace motorcycle training

In a world dominated by legislation and health and safety requirements, effective training should provide peace of mind for employers and result in participants with improved skill sets and knowledge. Key outcomes should include improved practical ability, a greater understanding of the causes of workplace incidents and an accurate understanding of legal and workplace requirements. All ‘Ride Safe’ courses are run by highly specialized off-road instructors to ensure the practical assessments are performed and conducted with technical and practical expertise unavailable with other generic organizations. We offer two different motorcycle training courses that are Workplace focused and ideal for any organization using motorcycles, quad bikes or side-by-sides (LUV). Training is on-site and uses workplace specific machinery and PPE to ensure courses are relevant and site specific. Every farm /agricultural workplace course feature three main components:

  1. Instructor led safety and technical discussion, including ‘Hazard and Risk’ assessments, and addressing the cause of any prior workplace accidents or incidents and practical methods to avoid them re-occurring
  2. Practical training and assessments, including how to conduct pre-use safety equipment and machinery checks and displaying adequate skill sets to safely perform daily tasks *Level 1 & 2 is suitable for all abilities; Level 3 & 4 users require experienced users or additional time allowances for extra training
  3. Written assessment to provide further evidence participants have been suitably trained and have acquired the suitable level of knowledge and enable instructors to provide extra help if required

Please note all Motorcycle training courses can also incorporate quad bike and/or side-by-side training. Every course includes our pre-use safety check workshop to ensure users can identify an unsafe machine.

The “Challenging and Technical Level 3 & 4” course is ideal for workplaces such as pest control, regional councils, The Department of Conservation and other organization’s requiring staff to safely navigate environmentally challenging terrain and requiring users to perform dynamic hazard and risk assessments to safely navigate elements such as river crossings, seasonal changes and elevated, remote landscapes. Environments like these require users to conduct robust hazard and risk assessments and consider riding techniques both for safety and to reduce fatigue. This “Challenging and Technical” course is exactly that and suits high-country workplaces or contractors working on high country hill blocks or adventure tourism guides. Duration in approx. 8 hours. Additionally, we aim to include specific training to address any previous property/workplace incidents or accidents in a practical manner. If none have occurred, we refer to past WorkSafe investigations and look at relevant case studies to analysis the causes of fatal incidents. The common element of any workplace is a variety of skill levels within the workforce, and we can cater to those variances with our maximum user to instructor ratio of 6:1 or splitting the group into different levels.

Our courses do not stop at the NZQA basics and consider the influence of modern machinery. We also offer bespoke training courses for users of electric machines such as UBCO, Surron or Stark motorcycles. For any further questions or requirements please get in contact directly.
